It’s October which means it is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So I wanted to spend a little time covering some key facts regarding breast cancer because it is a serious disease that affects many women every year.

1. Healthy weight:
Maintaining a healthy weight is key in breast cancer prevention.
2. Regular mammogram:
Early detection is one of the best ways to help fight breast cancer. It is important to do your own self breast examines each month. You are looking for any odd lumps in the breast tissue. If you find anything concerning report it to your doctor immediately. It is also important to receive yearly mammograms after a certain age. Ask your doctor at what age she feels you should start coming in for regular mammograms.
3. Get more fiber:
Fiber is an important food when it comes to ways to fight breast cancer. If you are struggling to get more fiber into your diet, why not start each day off with a warm bowl of oatmeal? It is absolutely delicious, versatile, and extremely good for you.
The American Cancer Society says studies show that breastfeeding your children helps decrease your risk against breast cancer. More studies are still needed to further understand the statistics.
5. Eat good fats:
Eating good fats like avocado, fish, nuts, and olive oil is one way to help fight against breast cancer. These fats are so much better for the body than other fats common in fried and rich foods. Increase your intake of good fats and leave the bad stuff alone.
