Hey Blog friends,
I hope you’re all doing really well.
I thought it would be really cool for all of you to get to know me without being too cheesy by going ‘I like this’ and ‘I hate that’!
So once a month, I’ll post an article about something most people don’t know about me and I’ll see how it goes…
First confession : True story: I was a vegetarian for 3 years !
It all began in my first year of baccalaureate. I up and decided one day to eliminate all animal products from my diet. And I’m still, to this day, not sure why ! You’re allowed to call me crazy !
Allow me to go back to october 2006. My cousin Sarah, who lives in Sweden and who I have the utmost respect for had been a vegetarian for years. So I thought I’d give it a shot myself !
Calling myself a VEGETARIAN just seemed to fit, so I took it and ran and by my senior year, I was eating no animal flesh whatsoever: no chicken, no beef, no McDonalds, no Burger King and to make a LONG story short, I was eating NO MEAT at all.
YEP ! Basically, I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew that I was a VEGETARIAN and I stuck with it and lived on vegetables, fruits, pasta, cheese, and tea for three years.
And if you had asked me back then why I put myself through this meatless experience, I would have looked you straight in the eyes and rattled off a bunch of facts about how much I love animals and the environment.
I would also have insisted that I never really liked meat in the first place but that was never NEVER true NEVER EVER.
And after 3 years, I asked myself what my real motivation was but I was at a loss to find a good one and my doctor looked serious enough when she told me, I had a lack of proteins and I may put my health in danger if I don’t start eating meat again.
So, during a festive family reunion, there was this girl who had been starving for 3 years in front of a moroccan barbeccue or in other words « SHWA ».
Oh, I forgot to mention something… Her name is Hind 😀
And, trust me, the rest is just history!
I ate like KING KONG who just stepped foot in New york and licked my chops like a lion who’d just finished off a wildebeest. That’s not really a great image to imagine but you get the point.
And you know what? It was the best thing I’d ever put in my mouth in three. years.
Now, I eat meat whenever I want and I’m happy just like I was 3 years ago but with more taste and flavour in my food 😀
Still, I will never regret my three years as a vegetarian as I knew they’d come in use someday but I just had to do what was best for my own health and to me to be at my best. And who knows? I may go back into being a vegetarian in a few years. Maybe.
