The Vow movie review

Par défaut

I’ve been a fan of the Nicholas Sparks brand since I could understand english. I’ve read all his books and so I naturally watched every single movie that was based on one of his novels. His books always seemed to be a perfect material for romance movies to directors: ‘Message in a bottle’, ‘A walk to remember’, ‘The Notebook’ *Sigh*, ‘Nights in Rodanthe’, ‘Dear John’, ‘The Last Song’ and the upcoming ‘The Lucky one’.

‘The Vow’ is a true story, the story of Paige and Leo who fell in love at first sight. Unfortunately, a car accident changes their lives after Paige’s memory is wiped clean and Leo begins a journey to help her remember their life. But when she doesn’t, he does everything to make his wife fall in love with him all over again… Enough said.

Yes, the story is sweet, the couple is lovely and inspite the car accident, the brain damage, the memory loss, the mesmerizing Chicago scenery and the « I love you no matter what », this is a movie that may disappoint some of you.

I mean, I’d have loved to see some new fresh faces! Why Rachel McAdams? « The Notebook » was PERFECT and « Midnight in Paris » was FABULOUS. Why did she have to do another Nicholas Sparks film for crying out loud? And Channing Tatum -I think he’s a great actor- But honestly, his performance in Dear John was way more better and convincing than this one.

Oh well! Some of you will find the story a little dull. But don’t worry ! You’ll have the two very good-looking actors to stare at for an hour and a half, which is always better than nothing.Right?

So if you’re a teenage girl, you’ll certainly find « The Vow » a popcorn love story and a sweet romantic dramatic comedy and if you’re a fan of the two stars, then you’ll certainly enjoy the movie. BUT if you like logic and perfect chemistry in your romantic movies then you may be a little disappointed.

Watch and judge for yourselves.

Stars: 3/5
